MAISON & OBJET 2014

Maison & Objet was a visual whirlwind. The sheer size of this show is overwhelming but the talent within this design 'Disneyland' is totally inspiring.

This year I felt there was a strong lean towards muted pastel accessories - picture marshmallow pinks and mossy greens. Of course there was the one and only Tom Dixon, who was named designer of the year - he never disappoints launching a new accessories range inspired by brass cogs, including a series of candlestick holders and desk accessories. Also worth mentioning was Ligne Roset's collection and the addition of an armchair to the Ruché Collection by Inga Sempé - a big tick to this piece and made even more beautiful in its dusty pink upholstery!

My Standout was definitely &Tradition's Copenhagen Pendant, honestly a jaw dropping moment! Resembling the classic gaslight, it fuses a modern industrial aesthetic which is emphasised by its low slung matte-lacquered metal lampshade.

Sometimes images speak louder than words, so I have put together a few pieces that really caught my eye and made me gasp with excitement!
